Gallatin Faculty Enrichment Fund

The Gallatin Faculty Enrichment Fund was established to honor the dedication and commitment of the Gallatin faculty. The income generated from this endowment provides an award for one or more members of the Gallatin faculty during each academic year. Beginning in 2023, with additional funding provided by the Office of the Provost, no fewer than five awards will be available to enhance faculty research at Gallatin.

Purpose of the Award

The award is intended to stimulate intellectual inquiry and growth, and to support projects that will lead to new avenues of academic discourse and broaden the opportunities for study offered to Gallatin students.  The funds may enable a faculty member to focus on individual or collaborative research, to collaborate with other faculty members in creating new courses or teaching methods, to organize or attend symposia, or to engage in other activities that will expand the intellectual life of Gallatin faculty and students.

Projects are expected to be completed within one year, and they must culminate in a final report, presentation, or publication. Please submit a final report (1-2pg) of your findings and/or final description of event or course to the Associate Dean of Faculty by the end of June 2024. Failure to submit a report may result in our inability to fund a future funding request under this program.

Deadlines

The application deadline is April 1, 2024 for projects conducted between May 31, 2024 and June 1, 2025. Projects are expected to be completed within one year, and they must culminate in a final report, presentation, or publication. Please submit a final report (1-2pg) of your findings and/or final description of event or course to the Associate Dean of Faculty by the end of June 2025. Authorized Expenses

The award may be used for materials and equipment, travel to scholarly meetings or conferences, printing for publications, salary for a research assistant, and/or expenses associated with data gathering, all with the intention of stimulating intellectual inquiry and growth.  Proposals for $500 to $4000 are acceptable.  Awards in the past have ranged from $1000 to $3000.

Eligibility

Eligibility for the Faculty Enrichment Fund award is limited to Gallatin’s full-time faculty.
