Application Deadline: Friday, July 9
Gallatin created the Americas Scholars and the Dean’s Honor Society to recognize exceptional students and provide them opportunities to meet and learn outside the classroom. Students in these groups explore particular themes during bi-weekly meetings with faculty throughout the academic year and also travel as groups once a year (either during Winter Break or Spring Break). After traveling, group members prepare projects based on their explorations, which they share with the Gallatin community.
Students must be invited to apply. Invited students are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.80 in the Spring semester. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 (without rounding up) and must have also completed at least 32 credits at the end of the Spring semester of application. The Selections Committee will review your transcript shortly after the application deadline to ascertain that you have met these requirements. Applicants must be studying at the Washington Square campus for the 2021-22 academic year and they must not be graduating before May 2022.
When completing your application, consider the following questions:
- How does this Scholars Group trip and its theme fit into your Gallatin concentration? How will what you have been studying or hope to study in your concentration contribute to your experience of the trip, and how will what you learn on the trip influence your concentration?
- What do you hope to learn from the experience of travel with the Gallatin community? How do you anticipate contributing to the community of travelers?
